Forever 21 Gear

Huzzah! Day one of feeling back to my normal self. I’ll never ever ever take being healthy for granted again. Feeling physically and mentally helpless was the pits. Funny how normal tasks like breathing are so exciting now.

It’s no secret that I love Forever 21. There’s no shame in that, most of my friends shop there and it’s great because each store usually carries a different selection and they have a high turnover so unlike H&M and Urban Outfitters, you don’t typically see many carbon copies out and about, especially outside of your zip code. Also, everything is fairly cheap so if you spill wine on your dress, it’s no biggie. Not that I’ve done that or anything…

Once again, Forever 21 brings a deal…now introducing activewear! Shut the front door! Functional and trendy activewear that won’t break the bank!? But will it work…??

It does! I took a chance and bought two sports bras and two tanks and finally tried a pair tonight. Since I’m doing yoga more, I wanted pieces that aren’t airy like my running tanks, plus, I don’t have too many pieces that aren’t full of logos from a race I’ve ran. That being said, I wasn’t looking for the clothing to sustain high impact (boobs) but I still wanted technical material. They rocked. Even the $9 sports bra could probably rival my more expensive brands and feel just as supportive. The tank didn’t chafe and was long enough that my gut didn’t hang out during crunches or stretched. Kudos, Forever 21. I now don’t have to shell out $30-40 for a technical tank or $25 for a sports bra anymore.

ouch.

I ran one mile tonight. Seriously, I can’t tell you the last time I ran just one mile…

I took yesterday off and though I felt a bit of pain today, a bit of soreness doesn’t surprise me anymore. Because of the sensitivity, I was only going to run 4 easy miles and about 20 minutes of the elliptical but that obviously changed.

I barely finished one easy mile. The inside of my left knee felt tight and sore and really weak. I gave up because I don’t want to cause further injury and opted for low impact and low resistance elliptical. I belted out 30 minutes and felt fine.

The walk home was excruciating, I couldn’t barely bend it. I winced with every step and could barely continue conversing on the phone. WTF.

Through the magic of google, and reliable running sites, my pain could be caused by running the slopes in CP over the weekend. This is so not what I need right now.

So now I’m home, leg propped, with a bag of frozen blueberries resting on my knee. At least I can catch up on the past two weeks of “Lost” since I won’t be waking up early to run…

this, that, the lsat

In one week, I’ll be taking the LSATs.

I’ll be honest, I feel very unprepared and rushed and I have not been able to dedicate as much time prepping for the test as I thought I would. It’s not the content, it’s the time. I do really well on the practice tests when not timed, yet when I set the timer for 35 minutes, I fluster and dwell and second guess. I have seven days to get over it.

Since I still can’t run until next Sunday, I’ve been biking and doing the elliptical at the gym. I can’t simply do just one thing if I’m not outside or running, so I’ve been reading trashy magazines on the gym rack. I found the below linked article in a magazine I normally don’t read while sweating out my anxieties. Perhaps it’s a sign?

100 days

Eeeek, only 100 days of training left for the Philly marathon.

I just joined a newly opened 24 hour gym two blocks from my apartment, so hopefully that will help me log the miles during the NYC monsoons and my erratic work hours. It’s fairly no frills, but all I really need is a treadmill and some light weights. By feigning hesitation in signing up for a full year membership, as opposed to monthly, they knocked $100 off the price and added a month. 13 months for $450, even if I run most of my days in the park, it’s still a great deal. Plus now I won’t be sacrificing safety in the early or late hours of the day. Though T-Bell, my downfall (beans instead of meat, obvs.), is between my apartment and the gym. Sigh. Today is a 7 miler on the calendar and at least I can do it at 10 pm instead of not doing it at all…

The SD NYC run is done. Though it was a rewarding two weeks, I’m so tired. Time to recuperate. Next week.

I’m currently listening to Mute Math’s “Armistice” that comes out on Tuesday. Obviously it’s brilliant. It’s on it’s fourth rotation of the day.

Yawn.
